Photoshop work and very limited gaming? I have a Sawtooth G4 with an ATI Rage 128 Pro.. I would like to upgrade it. I do mainly Photoshop 6 work with large digital camera files. I was thinking of getting a Radeon card but MacAddict said that it's 2D performance was weak and it was more for 3D gaming. Which card should I get???

The 128 Pro is perfect for you.
Stick with it, no need to go better...

Maybe a Formac Pro 3. Not too good for games though but it beats any other graphics card in PS.

There are really only two workman cards on the mac that can do a decent job of 2d and 3d. And that's the Rage 128 Pro and the Radeon. The Radeon offers way better 3d (best currently available) and from most accounts 2d performance on par with the Rage 128 Pro. I've got a Rage 128 Pro, and as much as I want to upgrade, I really can't justify spending the money.
Your only other options are to pick a path, either hardcore 2d or hardcore 3d. Either one wll cost you performance in the other.

I have an almost new Voodoo 5500 PCI card I'm no longer using. It was the sweetest card for Quake II ! Better than the Radeon I replaced it with, but I'm going with OS X and the Voodoo simply won't support it. Looks like you can't even use it as a second card if you plan to run OS X. Major compatibility issues with OS X. Of course my experience is with the public beta. The card is a big bastard - probably 11" or 12" long! Just barely fit in my B&W G3. But for gaming the 64 MB of VRAM on the card simply couldn't be beat, and the noise from the two on-card cooling fans couldn't be heard above the G3's primary cooling fan. 2-D performance is better on the Radeon by a wide margin. But for gaming.... the Voodoo killed. I still have the original box, manual, Y-connector for power, and both disks. One is for drivers, the other is game demos. If I can't get $125 for it I'll keep it and build a G4 around it for playing Halo!
