I recently purchased an apple studio display 17" its a great looking unit but in order to use it I need to buy an adapter to conect it through the VDI port from apple that costs $100.00

So do I really need to buy that adapter or does any1 know of another company that makes a simillar product? why woul Apple would create products that don't connect with there own display's I know its not the newest model but this is price gauging if I've ever seen it.

Dr. Bott produces the same adapter, called DVIator. It's also $100.

Neither Dr. Bott nor Apple have much incentive to lower the price; anyone who has blown $1000+ on a Cinema display doesn't have much choice if they want to use it with a Mac produced after Apple dumped ADC.
