I just got a Brother HL-2040 laser printer. Using the drivers from Brother, all the computers at home can connect to and use the printer (it's running off a network parallel printer driver). The PCs do fine; if I print ONE page, I get ONE page out. BUT when I print from the iBook, I always get two extra, blank pages.

There's nothing I can find on Brother's site about this. I have NOT yet been able to get the iBook away from my wife to plug it into the printer's USB port to see if this is common to the USB driver.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to make it very transparent for my wife to use, and so far it's being opaque to me.

I had been looking at the HL-2040 but was dissuaded by all of the poor reviews on Amazon. Does that little unit cause power spikes like some reviewers claim? I am very happy with my new Brother inkjet, but I'll likely be going to HP for laser when I find a good deal.

It does not seem to cause any problems here. I have it plugged into a separate outlet and NOT into any UPS (as one should do for ANY laser printer), but there's been absolutely no indication it's pulling more than average current. It even warms up very quickly. I'm very pleased with it - except for the issue with the extra pages.
