As many of you already likely know, smart (credit) cards are now avaible in many markets around the country. They have an embedded so called 32k smart chip that contains additional information and provide added security. In addition, many offer inexpensive USB card readers for the home user, wherein, purchases can be made directly from your computer with added security, and where online order forms are automatically filled out. Upon receiving a pre-approved application from fleet, I elected to order one of their "Fusion" cards after calling and being told that the home USB card reader was completely Mac compatible. I have subsequently learned the card reader is not Mac compatible and there are no plans to support this feature with the Macintosh platform.

My response will be to cancel their card forthwith, but I would like to seek out a similar smart credit card that offers a home USB card reader that's Mac compatible. Have any of you any experience with this issue and know of a smart credit card & card reader issuer that is Mac compatible?

Any assistance would greatly be appreciated.

I found this Topic after I received
a Target smart card reader in the mail.
I don't care so much about the smart card reading
but thought maybe someone had a way to hack these
for other purposes.
any ideas
