My sister got a free Microtek scanner with her purchase of a digicam at Staples. She thought it was ok for Mac because it had "Mac software included" written on the box. Neither windows or mac versions were checked off on the side however.
She was able to install the software no problem.
It has a small plug the same size as a Zip cord. (Parallel?)
When plugged into the Mac (PPC 6500) either: ) mac will not start up; mac will start up, but cd drive will not access; etc etc etc. As the machine is hanging, if you unplug the scanner, startup resumes.
Tried different cords, the zip cord, etc. Downloaded SCSI Probe, but couldn't use it while the scanner was plugged in. (Originally thought that maybe the scsi ID was the same # as something else.)
Anyway to use this scanner with a mac? Adapters? or does she have to return it for a SCSI one?
Since it was free, and from Staples, I doubt they'll have a mac version...
Maybe ebay is the way to go... for a swap.
