OK...

During the summer I bought a Quickcam VC. I plugged it in, installed the software, and it worked fine.

My machine is a Rev. A iMac
256MB RAM
VD2
466mhz Upgrade
I was also running OS 9.0.4.

Well, just a couple weeks ago I got a new HD (Maxtor 40.9 7200rpm) and put it in my iMac.
A couple days ago I reinstalled the software for the camera, plugged it in, started up the program, named the movie, and it quits right afterwards saying "Sorry, quickmovie quit becuase an update is needed to be able to run this program under the new Mac OS file system. "

It's odd to me becuase the 4gb original I had was extended and this 40gb is also formated extended. Same OS...Same programs, just more of them (becuase of the space)...

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is here... I checked the website to see if there were updated drivers, but no, they are the same that I got with the cd.

So if anyone knows how to workaround this, or what the heck to do, I would greatly appreciate it.

WELL THANKS A LOT FOR ALL YOUR HELP.>>>>>

heh...just a little bitterness there...

Anyway, I have figured out how to fix it. Apparently there is a lot of problems with the drivers for the VC and OS9 and, well, just about any Mac.

Go to versiontracker.com and look for 'quickcam'. 3 matches should come up...

Quickcam software 2.1.2 and 2.1.3
If you have the VC use 2.1.2...2.1.3 crashes or makes weird static if the camera works.

THEN download the software callen "nine11" It's an extension that somehow enables the VC to work with the 2.1.2 software...
If you are having trouble with the VC like I was, I would suggest trying this...
