What happened to Sony Spressa Mobile CD-RW?

I am looking for a light-weight portable CD-RW with 8X recording speed. I searched the net and found the following announcement( on Sept. 11 2000). http://www.sel.sony.com/SEL/corpcomm/news/ccpg/94.html

The product is called Spressa Mobile (CRX75L-A2). It's a firewire CD-RW(8X4x24) that weighs only 7 ounces. It was supposed to be available in November 2000. However, I couldn't find any store carrying the model. The model doesn't even exist on Sony's website, except the announcement I found. Did Sony scratch the project or what? Also, could someone suggest me other portable firewire CD-RWs? I need fast recording speed( 8X) and very portable(lightweight and compact). Thanks.
