How do i keep my firewire drive spinning?

I have a Firewire drive which i am in the process of making my default drive for my MP3s
when i go to play something in iTunes it has to Spin up, and it takes close to 10 seconds to play a song
how do i stop this?
can i make the Hard Drive spin constantly?

did you set a drive spin-down time in energy saver? my FW drive would spin forever if it wasn't for that preferences panel. I've set mine up to spin-down after 20 minutes. Since I don't use my FW drive all of the time, it waits it's 20 minutes and then spins down. I've only set this up on X so under 9 it spins until I shutdown or sleep.

The Energy Saver settings won't help...there are some FW drives that will spin down independently for whatever reason in OS X. A workaround is to use a cron job to access the drive frequently--it's clunky, but it may be a good option for you:
