In order to add additional music or data to a cd that has burned but still has some additional space on it the previous burn has to be done in the "write session " mode. When making a recording with Toast you can choose either to "write disk" or "write session".When you burn using write disk you can"t go back and record any additional data to the cd. When you use write session you can make additions at a later time. However, for music if you want to use the cds in an audio cd player I have found it to work best if I burn the entire cd using the write disc mode.

You can't burn an audio CD in sessions and have them all accessible to your player. Only the first session will be recognized, so get it right the first time.

Actually its very cool - that way you can make hybrid music/data CD's.
Very cool. If I wanna burn an album with only like 40 mins worth, I can go and stick on the video clips for those songs on the second session...

According to something I read a while ago (http://www.fadden.com/cdrfaq/ i think it was), you *can* add a second session to the CD with audio tracks (if you clicked the "write session" button the first time, but most, if not all, CD players will not recognize the additional tracks. So if you have a few disks and some time to spare, maybe you should just try it and see. If it doesn't work, oh well. One thing I like to do with the left over space is stick MP3s of all the tracks on the CD in there.

I know they aren't always registered on regular CD players, but if you have a CD-RW instead of a CD-R, you can burn to RWs so that you can erase and re-write to them later when you want to add additional tracks. CD-RW media is so cheap these days that it won't be too expensive.
