I get a lot of coaster discs when i burn Cd's with my que drive, now more than ever. I am using Toast 3.8.2 still, can I upgrade to 4.1? Does anyone know what causes discs to die so easily. it seems to happen with data and Audio equally.

Sorry to be so blatent, but Que!'s suck.
Get the latest version of Toast Deluxe, and it may fix it. 4.12 that is. I've heard it fixed probs with Que! drives.
If possible, get a Yamaha. Is USB your only peripheral option?

I just got Toast Delxe 4.1.2. and it fixed the problem so far. Usb is my only option until I get my dual 500.

Thanks...

If your drive is still giving you problems. Try burning at 2 speed, as the USB bus (especially on QUE! drives) is only capable of transfering data at the lower speed.
I swapped my burner for a ZipCD and I've had no problems.

Which USB CDRW would you recommend? I would like to get one for my brother this x-mas and would appreciate any suggestions. I have a Yamaha SCSI which I am very pleased with, but can't seem to locate any Yamaha USB CDRWs. What brands are considered the most reliable?

I have used a Que USB burner and only made 1 coaster and that is becuase the drive was plugged into a hub. I have burned hundreds of CD's and never had a problem. Make sure the drive is plugged into your Mac and not a hub and you should be ok.

Our USB Que! drive works okay. You can't burn faster than 2x without making coasters, but I blame that on USB. The thing that sucks about Que! is their support. We spent a month trying to get them to replace a defective drive and they kept blaming it on drivers, but it was really a bad USB port on the drive. Finally we got the catalog company to replace it. Que! never admitted blame.

Here's to hoping none of you with Que! drives ever need to have support.

I've have a Sony Spressa CDRW and Toast 4.1.2, and it's doing a nice job really. Backup stuff from HD at 4X, audio at 2X, but ofcourse, really sentitive stuff I always burn at 1x. Be sure to allocate enough memory to Toast tough. Can't hurt.

I used to get a lot of those to with my Que USB but then I started to check speed (the little button in toast next to where it says "Write CD....") and then check all of them and my burner hasn't failed since if I check speed and the burn @ 2x it's slow but very reliable
