I use a g4 ti and was wondering what would be the best back-up
option for things like emails, contact info etc ( all the stuff you would
hate to lose )
Factors to consider:
Price not that relevant
Speed is good
Small would be preferable.

Thanks

How about a FireWire hard drive from VST? It's fast, small and above all, doesn't require a power adaptor because it is bus powered. If price was not an issue that would be my choice.

The other option is a CD-RW. But they are either heavy or slow.

I wouldn't trust a Zip drive or other removable media for essential backups.

Have you considered backing up to you iDisk? It's slow and only 20MB but free and about as safe as it gets.

Until we get a 3 lbs sub-PowerBook, the 12-inch PowerBook will do.

Tried to sign up for itools, seems like the site is having problems.
The VST drives sound nice but are they reliable?
Am I better off with removable media?

Hello,
I've tried all solutions, from zip, syquest drives, external harddrives etc. The best and most useful has been my Yamaha cd-rw 8-8-24. It performs flawlessly. In addition, cds can be read everywhere and are easy to store, have pretty good capacity and are the cheapes option around. the only downside is the size of the unit itself. Not very portable at all. There are smaller, portable ones but they're also more expensive and slower.

The hard drive options is good too, but cd seems more reliable still.
