Hi GatoVolador. You probably read my quip about the Piccolo drive on that thread. My boss' wife wanted to enlist my help in picking out something for his Christmas gift, so I picked out a 32mb Piccolo drive. Basically, it's a flash memory card with an integrated USB plug (male, of course) all in one. It's totally plug and play with a Mac OS and Windows 98 (Rev B?) and above. He has a Sony Vaio laptop and a P4 desktop and we swap files back and forth no problem. I'm going to get one for myself, no doubt.
You can get them in 32, 64 and 128. There's supposed to be a 256 but it isn't out yet, and it's kind of pricey anyway. The 64mb is 100 bucks. It acts just like a floppy, only no moving parts. This is the kind of technology advancement we used to expect from iomega.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...check it out at Sonnettechnologies.com. Sonnet has been an excellent Mac specialist for years.

If only it were as cheap as SDRAM. I'd love a 512 MB stick for $70, then $30 for the USB connector...

I got a 128 mb Piccolo from MacZone for $169, but returned it when I saw the 256 mb JMTek USBdrive for $175 at McAfee. With the USBdrive you also get a key ring, a neck chain and a 6'' USB cable. Great product. Solved my need to have common storage between my Mac and PC. Plug and play. Amazing technology.

I noticed on the JMTek USBdrive web page that there were drivers. I am running OSX, do I need drivers for this or will it just work. How bout for Windoze? Is this true for all brands? I see that it is mentioned that it is plug and play, but every time I see drivers I am suspicious.

The way I understand it from reading and talking to JMTek is that the device works with Mac 8.6 thru X and with Windows 98 SE and later. Of these operating systems, you only need to download a driver for Windows 98 SE. Drivers for all the other operating systems are loaded in.
Also, the included USB cable is 3 feet long not 6" as I said earlier. The cap on the JMTek also has a pocket clip on it like a pen. So they include gadgets to carry the drive clipped on a pocket (shirt or briefcase), around your neck, or on your keychain.
