How can I transfer files from my old PowerMac to my new I-Mac? Can I use the Imation Super Disk or is that just a storage unit? Hope you can help.

you can put it all on superdisks. you'll then need to plug in the superdisk drive to you imac and put in the disks. transfer files that way if it's the best available.

you could also do it over ethernet. get yourself an ethernet crossover cable (not a regular one) and connect that way. it's more involved than just connecting, but it is relatively easy.

if you're on a home network or can network both macs, then do that to transfer.

As a rule of thumb, I would say : if you have just a few MB of data to transfer once in a while, you can go the SuperDisk way. If you have tons of data, let's say a few GB, or you need to transfer files quite frequently, go the ethernet crossover cable way. Once your 2 machines are configured to see each other, from then on, your transfers will be painless.

Which way is faster? I'd guess ethernet is the winner here, at a theoritical 1 MB/s depending on your ethernet adapters... Other opinions on this ???

I agree with Calli46. Anything more than a few MB will be easier and faster with ethernet. I did a large transfer through ethertnet a few months ago. It told me it was expecting around 30 min left in the file copy window, so I went and had lunch while I was waiting. When I checked again it was done. I didn't have to hassle with swaping disks.

I transfered through my router. Here is a guide that can explain how to set up with crossover.
I know a guy from nantucket, and well lets just say the stories about him are greatly exaggerated.
