Ok, heres the deal.
I want a new mouse.
Optical - I have a cheap 3 button ball mouse for gaming, so the optical skipping with very rapid movements is of little concern.
I have the puck mouse too, plus the Apple Pro Mouse...
Now, the Pro mouse is awesome, I love it, but it only has 1 button!
I have an IntelliMouse Explorer optical with me now, and while it fits my hand great and I love the positioning of the buttons - it is very slow to move.
Know what I mean? It doesn't 'glide' as well as the Pro Mouse.
I've read all the reviews and none say anything about this...
What are my options?
4 buttons, plus scroll wheel, and optical.
Ambidexterity is no concern.
I was thinking of that Logitech one - has anyone got experience with this?
Sorry for bringing up such a discussed topic, but nowhere I checked could answer these questions
TIA

The Kensington Mouse in a Box Optical Pro is a four button with a scroll wheel. It also comes with excellent software. I read in one of these forums that it's pretty cheap at this time due to rebates. (See Optical Mouse (mice) in this forum.)

I hear the kensington one is hard to grip though, so I would stay away from it. I myself use trackballs (MS trackball explorer) and works fine, but I doubt you'd want to go to trackballs...

Cipher, i'm using the logitech optical one. it's got 2 buttons (3 if you count the scroll wheel button) and scrolling capability. I don't use logitech drivers, i use USB Overdrive and i think it's fabulous. It's a cheap optical mouse with a good feel, and it's made to be for both left and right handed people. I'm very happy with it so far, and i'm sure i will continue to be! (knock on wood) :-)

I'm using the Logitech mouse with USB overdrive just like Duboy. Mainly because Logitech's Mouseware sucks and Overdrive allows me to program the scroll wheel for UT. I hardly notice any optical skipping with this mouse when playing with UT. But I think the cheapest solution for you would be to use USB Overdrive with your IntelliMouse Explorer. Overdrive allows you to set your mouse speed REALLY high. It maybe just what you need to speed up that slow IntelliMouse.

I installed the usb overdrive (thanks everyone) and now my logitech ifeel works! (but no feel...iFeel with noFeel.... )
Same speed as the pro mouse, I am using both mouse now, can't tell the difference.
MS mouse is good, but looks ugly, esp beside a mac.
Wheel Mouse is only US$30, good price, but I paid my iFeel only $30CDN....

Cipher,
I use an Intellimouse Optical, but have never noticed it being slow. I would describe it as fast and flawless. MIght there be something different about your setup? Have you reproduced this problem on other computers or with other Intellimice?

I have the Logitech optical wheel mouse as well, it is absolutely fantastic. Im a heavy quaker too and its way better than any other Ive used.
Its perfectly weighted, and in fact if its too heavy u can pull out the weight thats screwed inside the the case.
The tracking is great, no problems for me in that respect... and the shape is great. I think its way more comfortable than the M$ thing.
Plus its cheap, i paid $40 canadian, well worth it.

hey Stogieman have you looked at the Intellimouse control panel? I think you'll find it has more features than USB overdrive but lacks the joystick stuff…and it can be set very fast.

yeah it's not something you'd want the neighbors to see.
