I have just bought and setup a USB 100mb zip drive (old shape, translucent blue). Inside the drive at the back there is a yellow light that comes on, flashing at first and then staying on. What does it supposed to be for? I can't find anything about it in the documentation, just the green & yellow power and disk read/write lights at the front.

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

it's a special light that attracts aliens. honestly, it doesn't do anything, i've had one for 2 years and i've often postulated as to what it's purposes is, i think the one in front must have gotten lonely, so they added a friend.

Don`t worry, all its for is a visual way of conferming that the computer have 'seen' and connected to the computer.

I have a D-link four port USB hub and it has lights just like those for each port and for the uplink port. They are just a visual confirmation that the computer sees the devices connected to the ports. Come to think of it though, I have been abducted by aliens several times since I bought it, perhaps the lights do attract aliens as Wetsponge said.
