Mitsubishi DiamondPro 2020u/2040u/2060u 22":
"It was one of only three monitors to earn an A+ for image quality"
- 5/5 stars, Cadalyst 5/2000 (PS. Sony's top model did not get A+)
"The equipment listed in this DisplayMate Reference Video Hardware Guide is
in our judgement the best commercially available video hardware in each of
20 categories. The selections are based solely on image and picture quality
excellence and are recommended as a standard of excellence and as a
reference for comparison for consumers, manufacturers and test labs alike.
CRT Computer Monitors Reference hardware: DiamondPro 2020u"
- DisplayMate Technologies
"Contrast and brightness, two of the most important qualities in a monitor,
are excellent in the 2040u. Even the brightest images have good definition,
and the text of the Mitsubishi looks focused to the far reaches of the
screen. Hues appear consistent and smooth."
- Smart Computing 3/2000
"Of the five monitor tests we did not run into a single problem. Everything
was virtually perfect, even when running at the maximum resolution at 60 Hz.
Colors from the center of the screen to all four corners were bright and
sharp." - GamePC 21" monitor best of the group 3/2000
"Totally flat 22-inch monitor delivers glorious, surgically precise images."
-Windows Magazine WinList choice for best 21" CRT, 7/1999
5/5, Mac Magazin, 7/99
"Best of the Test" - PC Direct 5/99
5/5, Best monitor/Editors Choice, Cadence Lab, 6/1999
... I could go on, but you get the picture. This is the best commercially
available CRT monitor out there.
You can get the same monitor cheaper in many countries as Elsa Ecomo 750. It's exactly the same monitor as 2020u even down to controlling electronics, screen menus and plastic covers.
cheers,

In NONE of the tests out there does ANY Sony display outperform the
Mitsubishi display in question.
