OK. I give up. I can't seem to find anyone who makes an external PCMCIA card reader. I'm *NOT* talking about a compact flash reader, memory stick reader, etc. I *am* looking for a little dock that will accept a full-fledged PCMCIA card that I can plug into my new iMac (SCSI units need not apply).
Anyone know of any/have experience with any such beasts?

Because I'd like to mount my little 5GB PC card hard drive on my iMac's desktop whenever I feel like it. And anything else I have that fits in a PC card adapter without having to buy a host of media-specific readers.

Sell it and put it towards an iPod
5GB as well.
Yeah, I doubt you want to, but it's probably a better option.

Already have an iPod. Already filled it with iTunes.
Doesn't anyone know if anyone makes a PCMCIA card reader/dock for the desktop?

Not sure why you're having so much trouble finding these. Lots of companies make them. I'm using a Lexar combo PCMCIA and SmartMedia USB one with my Windows 2000 box.
The thing that's hard is not finding them per se, but finding ones with good OS X drivers. OS 9 support from these companies is more common though. I can confirm that the above Lexar one did NOT work with OS X.1.1 on my iBook, but I haven't tried it in a long time since I use a Lexar Firewire CF reader with the iBook in OS X (no drivers required), and just plug the camera in for SmartMedia. But that was many moons ago, and now were up to OS X.1.3. In case anybody's wondering, the Lexar Firewire CF reader also works great on my XP box (again no drivers required).
By the way, it costs more to buy a SmartMedia --> PCMCIA adapter than it costs to buy a whole USB SmartMedia reader. (I have one of these converters for my parallel port CameraMate PCMCIA reader on my NT4 box. NT4 doesn't support USB.)
