Ok... When I print pictures, there are lines through them, spaced about 3/4 of an inch or so, and are getting thicker. Its annoying. How can I fix this, is it a HW prob?
Or just need a clean?
Other thing is this - I have the G4 hooked up to it via the printers USB port, and the 5500 via serial (ADB or whatever).
Whenever I shut down the 5500 while the G4 is still on, the green power light on the printer will start blinking and keep on doing that forever.
To print from the G4 then I must turn off the printer then turn it on again.
Also, restarting the 5500 does this too.
Whats the go?
Any way to avoid this? As much as I doubt it, you never know. And aversion by not shutting down the 5500 is not an option, nor is leaving it unhooked...

I don't know about the light blinking when both machines are hooked up, but I had a similar problem with the lines on my Epson 800. There is a utility in the print driver to clean the heads and also do an alignment check. That fixed the problem for me.

.... And sometimes multiple cleaning sequences are needed, bearing in mind each cleaning uses a considerable amount of ink. Your Manual should explain the diagnostics behind which light is blinking and why.

Ditto on the lights problem, but for the lines you may also have a faulty cartridge(s). I have found that often times the wierdest problems can be fixed by installing a fresh pair of cartridges.

Good suggestion, Scott, but also an expensive proposition . I will say I had the banding problem with a new set of cartridge, and even after three of the software generated cleanings, the problem continued. A call to tech support had same insisting on some 5 or 6 additional cleanings, whereof, the banding improved dramatically, but was still BARELY discernible. However, a printing the following day was perfection personified, and has been ever since.

All good reasons to send me your epsons and I'll throw them all off my balcony.

Now does anyone know of a printer that works as it should on a G4.
1 no banding lines
2 can print in black/white without a colour cartriage(or empty)
3 prints proper sizes in photoshop
4 doesn't screw up remote access

Seriously, I need a printer that works properly.
Is my new epson stylus colour 760 broken? This is what it feels like. If you are in the market for a printer try something else and please let me know how it works. Are all printers under$200 this bad?
thanks
