I'm interested in a VGA projector.

All of the ones that I've seen are a few thousand. To make matters worse the bulbs are around $400 extra.

Is anyone aware of any of these projectors for a reasonable price? (Ideally around $700 - $800?) <<-- Or am I still a few years too early for those price ranges.

you're still a few years out - best you'll find is old vga only stuff for 1000-1500. not worth buying, imho.
