Just saw this on Mac Surfer: http://www.dailymac.com/content/shopper/epsonosx.html
Cannot reach Epson support until Monday. If this is true, I think I will look for another scanner. I was about to buy the Perfection Photo 2450. Glad I saw this article first.

This is the kind of crap (charging for what should be free drivers) that makes Gnutella and other file sharing prorams so popular.

I would encourage any person who gets these driveres to post them to as many file sharing networks, like Gnutella, as possible. Screw those greedy ba$tard$ at Epson!

e-mail Dan_Crane@ea.epson.com. He's a Vice President of marketing, who should know what kind of crap this is. I e-mailed him last fall when Epson was stonewalling on releasing X drivers for my Photo 870, and I actually got a response, although not from him! This is unbelievable! I have a Perfection 1640SU scanner, and Epson still hasn't released drivers for it, although there is an excellent driver available from Version tracker. This driver is shareware and costs $40, but it does work in X and has a lot of features.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Beware, this a scam!!! I requested the drivers for my Perfection 1650 scanner about a month ago and I received a letter from epson yesterday, indicating that they would not be releasing the drivers. Indicating tha support for the scanner would not be made available until a later release of OSX. But they didn't have the decency to rebate the $3.99 that I sent in with the "rebate" form. I think I'll just sell, this scanner and stay away from epson products forever!!!

Seems to me I remember sending in money back, last Spring, when I purchased my Perfection 1650 Scanner. They were supposed to mail me a driver but I too received a letter saying that discrepancies with Apple have prevented them from releasing a driver. They still have my money though.

Seems illegal to me.
