I saw and used a 17" LCD for the first time yesterday, it was amazing to say the least! The one thing that left me scratching my head, was the aweful colour problem... the fact that on a straight blue background, if i look directly at the centre dead on, it gets darker on the way out. To me, this totally defeats the purpose of a monitor, if it can't even display a simple colour correctly. Odd. I do a bit of web design, flash work, and gaming... (going to uni next year doing digital design stuff), and am wondering is an LCD worth it (ignoring price) with its major colour problems?

Try Apple Color Calibration (ColorSync) to calibrate it!

Good Luck!

Calibrate it? so it shouldn't be displaying a dead blue, then getting darker as you look out?

That isn't calibration.... anyhow, in an apple store, one would hope apple would make their screens as nice as possible

But where is the "monitors" topic? I keep looking for it but don't see it here. I have a question about monitors for a PowerMac, but don't know where to post it or read about it. Please help.

i think you answered your own question - if you consider LCD displays to have major color problems, then don't use one. but consider that people may be viewing your websites, flash work, and games on LCDs. (i've always felt color calibration most important in print work.)
one post closer to five stars
