someone i work for is thinking about getting either a blackberry or a treo (she's with t-mobile).
the guy at the store told her only the treo will sync with mac os x;
is that true?

also...which one is easier to use (she's not very tech-y...)

thanx!

i've used both and currently have a Blackberry 8700g, i can say it syncs very well with my Mac, the PocketMac software works with a number of different bits of software.
But i have to say the Treo 650 has a more Mac like feel to it IMO.

Both do they same thing for me.

The next thing i'm looking at is the new Sony Ericsson P990i, that looks very nice.

PocketMac for Blackberry is now free, so the point is really moot. That said, do you really want to trust PocketMac with your data? Or your friend's? How good of a friend is she?

I take it, then, that you've never actually used a pocketmac program? Just have a look at blackberryforums.com for some users' experiences. Some report no problems at all but others report many issues. I guess it's YMMV.

Anyway, I've found that the BB was way WAY more stable than the Treo but annoying in other ways. It's a great email machine. And the 8700 is a pretty good phone too. But for PIM, it's pretty bad. No categories for appointments. Very little in the way of making it "yours" from a customizability standpoint. The treo with a program like chatteremail may be a very good solution for her.

Although if her work has a Blackberry Enterprise Server, she may want to get the BB. Over the air syncing of appointments/tasks is COOL. Put it in your BB and it's on your desktop within seconds and vice versa.

If it were me, I'd get the Treo but I'd try to wait for the 700p to come out.
