Xbox 360 and airport express?

I have an airport express to extend the wireless network in my house. The actual cable is upstairs and the express is downstairs. If I put the 360 downstairs, can I plug a cable from the express to the 360 and have the 360 connected to the network? Just trying to save myself $100 from getting the wireless thing for the 360. Thanks.
