I have an external qps 8x8x32 cdrw drive. I am running os 9.2.2. It is currently supported by itunes. The last couple of times ive tried to burn an audio cd in itunes, the cd burned in 2x for some inexplicable reason. Not willing to wait the hour or so for the disc to burn, i cancelled the disk writing and scrapped the disk. Thinking it was just a bum disk, i tried another. Same thing. I restarted, and burned the same playlist again. It worked, and burned in 8x right off the bat. In the prefs it says its buring in 8x, so thats not the problem. (unless theyre corrupted) Im pretty sure its the software, but am unsure how to fix it.
Aside from this problem, as anybody else noticed that itunes 2 still has some flaws. Its crashed on me twice, once in 9 and once in x, wheras, 1.x never crashed even once. Aside from the problems with the powermacs and the mp3 player problems it had (both of which are supposedly fixed now), what is wrong with itunes 2? I just cant understand it, they hardly updated it at all from v1.1. I wonder if its related. Could have something to do with the authoring supporti n os9 though. I dunno, any ideas, as i usually figure this stuff out , but seem to be stumped on this one.

I've had similiar problems with my 12x Firewire burner. The cds I've burned burn only at 8x or 10x and I'm using good Fuji 24x media. I really have no clue.
Regards,
Dave

My 16x burner only burns at 12x in iTunes. Never questioned it until today.

Still 12x is fast enough
