Does anyone have the Iomega 650 CDRW?
how do you like it? does it work with Itunes or should I get Toast titanium? I am looking to buy it for my sister (x-mas present) Refurbed at macmall for $130.
Any advice or personal experience would be helpful.

I have the Iomega ZipCD 650. Yes, it works perfectly under OS 10.1. I burn data discs with Disc Burner and iTunes 2.0.x recognizes and burns using this burner as well. Never any problems under 10.1(.1).

As for 9.2.x, you should be able to plug it in w/out any drivers needed. Disc Burner under 9.2.x will see it and so will iTunes. A friend of mine uses the burner far more than I, and in a month he has burned over 27 GB of data with zero problems. iTunes burns at only 2x with this drive, however, making for a rather pokey burn.

What kind of Mac does your sister have? If she has one with firewire, get her a firewire burner for around that price. It'll be at least 3 times faster than anything USB.

I've got one too - works fine with mac os (9 and X).

The only problem is speed - because it's USB it's terribly slow.

absolutely. Speed over USB burners is hideous in general, and 2x is excruciating.

I'll chime in here as well - my brother has a usb zip 650 and is very satisfied with it. He runs OS 9 but I imagine it works well under X as well. painfully slow over usb, but if that is your only option, go for it!

I also have the same burner. Works great with a PC also.

Dont buy it from anyone but Ubid.com. I got mine (refurbished) for 70 bucks and also got one for a friend at work for the same price. They come to your house shipped from iOmega. Had mine for 6 months now with no problem.

iTunes recognized it but Toast 4.1.3 doesn't. The Toast docs indicate it might be an extensions conflict. I'm still working on that.

Other than that and the slow USB transfer rate it works well and I've yet to produce a coaster.

G4 user thanks for the Ubid .com info I will give them a shot, $70 sounds better than $130 at macmall.com
