- Would anyone know if purchasing the ATI Radeon graphics card can be purchased as the default card?

I mean, I want to code for QD3D... I know OPenGL is the thing now days, but hey I don't really care... I wish to code for a card that has both OpenGL/QD3D hardware supported, and only the ATI card does this as far as I know.... unless there are others? I know of only the Formac card which supports both but does opengl partialy...

- what is the best option fo me? Have two cards(nVidia or other opengl and ATI Radeon) or 1 (ATI Radeon)? or is the G4 enough for software render... the only problem is that special effects like transparency won't work correctly under software emulation

- I went to the ati sight and it mentions 2 cards
: VE (suports opengl/QT... no mention of QD3D... and only mentions PCI form)
: standard (noticed that it supports opengl/QD3D/QT... plus comes in agp form)

- and will there be a way to upsize the memory on these things?... I at least want 64Mb... but if it can take more... please send us a reference on how to do it

thanks guys

I assume you're asking if the ATI card is available as an option when you're ordering a new machine, and the answer is no. The only cards Apple offers from the factory are the NVIDIA cards. I don't know anythig about coding, but if you want an ATI card, you'll have to put it in as a second card, and it's my understanding that the Radeon 8500 won't be available until MacWorld in January.

Hi there,

Will I ever see "ATI RADEON 8500 FOR MAC"??? Like what I had seen, the "CREATIVE SOUNDBLASTER LIVE FOR MAC"? By the way, will there ever be a "CREATIVE AUDIGY PLATINUM EX FOR MAC"?????

Best regards from,
Tan Li Kang
