Well hey, I've never made a post about a yet-to-be released product (not that I know of anyway), so why not. I was thinking today about things that would just make the iPod 2 too good to resist.

1. A remote control unit, as found on discmans.
2. Larger HD, of course... that's a given though.
3. Perhaps a microphone (and record-to-mp3) capability - that'd be awesome for uni students. Put it on your desk, and record the lecture, no problemo. That'd be a huge benefit.
4. EQ. One reason I won't get the current iPod is that I'm quite worried about how it sounds... I don't wanna have to alter the EQ of mp3's individually via iTunes before I dump 'em to the iPod - I want a dynamically changeable global EQ from the iPod itself. I've heard its base reproduction is quite poor... how accurate that is, I don't know. But without something like DBass as most discmans have, well, it isn't an option. Just as an example, my Sony discman always has the bass maxed... no exceptions.

There are a couple of threads like this, but none quite appropriate.

The first person who requests the iPod play movies is to be hung.

hey,
I like all your requests!! specially the mic in to mp3!!
and what i would like.....:
* a battery that has longer batterylife (20 hrs or so could be possible if you look at some discmans that have 360 hrs, i know the ipod is not a discman but.....)
* and/or a battery that can be changed, would be really nice.
* a very good equalizer,
* and a hard disk of minimal 10/15GB

.........

(GOTA HAVE) Remote with a mic in it so use first adopters can get it and still have all of the features of the new one.
(DON'T CARE ALREADY HAVE ONE) Bigger HD
(WOULD BE NICE) More internal RAM 32 now kick it up to 64 or 128, (this will increase the battery life if you play a playlist and let it play while all the songs are loaded in the RAM).

(LAST DITCH TO GET CONSUMERS) Removable battery seems kind of stupid, takes away form the looks of it, Apple could make a Firewire power source basiclly another battery but can be removed if you want to slim it down.

It would be nice to be able to plug in a digital camera and have it save your pictures. This way you don't have to worry about filling up all of your flash cards while on a long trip.

I don't know if I can get my current iPod to do this but it would be nice to plug it into you computer without having it automatically recharge the battery. There are times when I my iPod is fully charged but I want to add some songs to my playlists. Everytime I plug it in the battery gets drained before it recharges. which is kind of annoying.

- A built-in mic would be nice to have. But I think a line-in port should be included as well.

- Make the thing more scratch resistant. At the very least, Apple should include a carrying case.

That's all I can think of right now.

Slick shoes?!! Are you crazy?!!

There is more than enoughtjuice to power the ipod and the drive at the same time, or you could just plug it in a add some songs then leave it pluged in for a couple more minutes

I'd really like to see the iPod2 insanely overpriced, say >599$
Why?? Because that would make me feel alright about my iPod1 for a much longer time

1. Agree with Montezuma about having some sort of digital camera download ability. It may require a 3rd party adapter for USB cameras, but perhaps this functionality would help sway camera developers to 1394, or at least bring it down to the consumer level.

2. Log in from iPod functionality built in to OS X and supported by Apple. The iPod is obviously more than an MP3 player. I think this feature would be awesome for travelers and students at university computing labs (no longer take your $2000 laptop around, just bring your iPod and login from it). Perhaps the unveiling of this functionality could coincide with the release of the PC version of the iPod so that the Mac would still retain some exclusive iPod functionality.

3. Contact information storage. Perhaps integrated with an updated and improed address book app? I hardly use that address book, but if this feature existed I might take advantage of it.

-Bigger HD, equalizer(Software improvement so current iPod can get it)
-Scratch proofing (very important)
-USB port....not for windows compatibility...but i want to connect my Sound Sticks to them .
-Remote control....great luxury
-Microphone , would be a great plus, especially to the college crowd.

Cheers.

I would like apple to release an ipod-gt model.

It would include a larger HD,a larger color screen, 350 small-block chevy v8 , rear wheel drive, a getrag 6-speed tranny, 3 inch catback exhaust, headers, recaro racing seats, 20x11.5 inch 3-piece rims with Z-rated goodyears and paint it red and slap a nice apple decal on the back window.

Now thats an ipod I could get excited about for $399.00

:-D

How about a MusicShare feature? You plug 2 iPods together, and automatically the HDs are synchronised. You get all your friends music, they get all yours.

This would be really cool, except for Apple never implementing it because it's kinda illegal...

EQ, Mic, and the ability to use it as a HD for digital cameras although that doesn't seem to be possible unless theirs a small plug that converts USB to Firewire.
