Okay. iPod can serve as a firewire disk, and some cameras have firewire connectivity, right? So is there any way that I could download photos from a digital camera directly onto the iPod?

not without the software. A program is needed (such as Image Capture in OS X) to read the card and process the image download. If you connect your iPod as a FireWire disk to your Mac, then connect the digital camera to your Mac, you should be able to select the disk you want to save the images to. Your iPod firewire disk should be among them.

That would be freakin' awesome if you could do that!

I bet Apple would sell tons of iPod's if you could transfer your pictures to it.

Don't hold your breath, but I saw a shot of a 'Pod, with the top level menu and a FireWire logo in the top left corner on either iPoding or iPodhacks. They promised the picture was unaltered, but couldn't say how they got it.

Yeah, I saw that on iPoding too. It left me wondering... It doesn't seem to me like they edited the firmware. Maybe they just plugged in a Firewire device that is compatible with the 'pod. The firmware mentions brands of cd burners, like Teac.
