Mac OS X
867
1+GB ram
HP psc 950 with latest driver (4.0.3)

I can't seem to print from any of my browser IE, Netscape, OmniWeb. Very strange. Word and excel print fine, scanner works. Have had a few problems with Entourage as well. When I try to print in one of the programs mentioned, the application quits. I was hoping sense it happens with all the browsers that there might be something I missed in the set up.
Any clues?

I have the same HP all-in-one 950 and new 800mhz i-mac.

I did not bother with the CD that came out of the box, but downloaded from the HP web site the latest driver.

With much experimentation, I have found the following:
I am trying to use sleep instead of shut down.
The HP goes to sleep automatically after a period of time.
If I wake the I-Mac and the printer is asleep…forget using it.
I hit the cancel button on the printer and it wakes up and will work most of the time.
I some time have to shut the computer down, press the cancel button on the printer then start the I-Mac. This usually works.

This HP seems to be a fine printer, and scanner – have not used the fax or other features yet. It is slower than I think it should be, certainly much slower than an old HP 870Cse used with the Sony laptop.

Infuriating since I use two of them. The drivers suck and HP support knows this and even admitted as much to me.

What I know is that under certain circumstances, possibly such as waking from sleep, will render the printer unavailabe. The only fix for me has been to restart the printer and computer and everything works.

Also, HP support is good, even have a Mac department. Their support is free, but they don't have an 800 number. So call from work if you can't resolve the issue.

I got an email response from HP and it worked.

"Go to the Print Center (HD > Applications > Utilities) and delete the PSC 950 printer and fax. Restart the computer. Then add them again, being sure to choose HP AIO Print and HP AIO Fax as the connection method rather than USB."

I had a problem when I switched the default printer to my other printer, so I went back and followed the above instructions, no other problems.
