Help, Help - how do you stop a print job on the Epson 740. Epson doesn't provide Mac users with the Status Monitor it gives to Windows users, so there's no dialog box available to stop the printing. For some reason, my printer is turning out dozens of pages, even though the print material is covered on only 9 pages. I took the paper out to stop the printing temporarily, but the spooled data will resume printing when I put reload the paper. Hope someone has an answer - I can't use my printer until I get one.

I don't have the 740, but my 800 and PhotoEX came with Epson Monitor. I believe it installed from the Epson cd to the Extensions folder. Check the Extensions folder for the app and also check to see if the file is in a spool folder.

Another workaround is to turn the printer off.

Also, you didn't mention what app you are printing from. I know some MSWord docs that come from pc files have a ton of "garbage", including extra blank pages if you open them with Word 6 or earlier. i don't recall the same problem with Word98.

My 740 came with the Epson Monitor as well. It usually pops up in the background, so it isn't always immediately apparent. It does give you a way to select and trash a print document. It should be on the CD that came with your printer...

I think that you can hit command period to abort the print process!

If all else fails, just turn the printer off. When the error dialog box appears, click "Cancel" or "Abort," then turn the printer back on.

hey, at least it's printing. For an epson, that's saying something.

Sorry. Still grumpy about my epson dying.
