I am trying to decide between the Monsoon MM-702 or iM-700 and the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers for my G4 533DP.

I'm wanting speakers for listening to music cds that have good detail for transcribing guitar parts and with decent power to jam along with.

Which speakers do you think would be the best choice for my intended use?

Any opinions good or bad on the sound quality of the Monsoon and Klipsch speakers?

TIA

I've got a pair of Monsoon MM-700, and I'm very satisfied. They have decent subwoofer adjustment range, while providing crisp sound on sounds like piano and electric guitar, which some subs tend to drown out with bass. I don't know anything about Klipsch. For the price, the Monsoons are very nice.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Just curious, what turned you off on the H-K soundsticks. I am extremely impressed with the transparency of the sound, better than my stereo when you're in front of them.

cheers,

KarlG, thanks for the info.

JB, I never heard the Soundstix or the others. I was reading a review and it gave the edge to the Monsoons, but I bet they are nice sounding speakers. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the Soundstix only USB connectable? I didn't mention this, but I plan on getting a digital slo-mo recorder for transcribing music and might need a set that has a regular 1/8" input jack to be able to hook that unit up to when I need it.

Thanks

Hi there!

Here is what my opinion:

If money is no object : Klipsch Promedia 4.1 speakers

If the LOOK is everything : Harman Kardon Sound Stick

If combination of both : Monsoon MM-702 or iM-700

If just better than G4's built-in speaker :o : Apple Pro Speaker

Best regards from,
Tan Li Kang

I have the Monsoon MM-1000s' with my G4 533DP and I highly recommend spending the extra $ to get these over the MM-702s. When I first heard them I was amazed that a multimedia speaker system could produce such high quality sound.
