I have sony crx 1600 firewire 12x8x32 cdrw I am running OS9.1 G4 450 dp I gig ram. My computer sees the cdrw as a scsi device. If I turn it on before booting up it works, If I turn it on while G4 is running it is not recognized, Just like a scsi device. Is this normal I know others whom have fw cdrws and they dont have this problem. Also using toast titanium. Is there a work around for this. thanks

I use same sony. In Toast, if you go to toolbar - recorder - recorder info and scan again, the CDR will come up. I never have trouble otherwise, and Toast recognizes Sony as Firewire as indicated in both Toast window as well as recorder info window. It would be great if burner just came up but I am not troubled by this. Usually I turn burner on when I am strarting up. Then it's there automatically. Sony does suggest you turn burner on first then computer. Hope I helped some.
