Apple 17" TFT lines on screen, bad?

A friend of mine has got a beatiful Apple 17" TFT, the worst thing is the monitor has three lines going from top to bottom, I suggested is not a normal thing and he must call Apple ASAP, don´t you think so?
He has a G4 AGP, not a ADC, by this he has the monitor attached to G4 via a DVIator "clone".
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Well that is not normal at all. I think it is the adapter.

I wouldn't be surprised if the "DVIator clone" messed with the signal to the monitor and caused the lines. It certainly shouldn't be there! Your friend should contact Apple either way, or at least have it tested with a real ADC connection... I'd think most computer stores that sell Apple stuff could help you with this.
