Anyone using a cordless optical mouse with there Mac using OS 9 or X?

How reliable is it?

I am getting tired of the very long cord on my Intelli explorer mouse. I currently have all the excess bundled up.

I don't have a cordless mouse, but I do have the Kensington Pocket Mouse with the retractable cord. Small and works very well. The retractable cord is really nice. I use it on my Tibook. Easily fits into my bag. About $40 from Kensington.

I use the Logitech Cordless Mouseman Optical, it works and looks great. I tried the MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer but found it had a couple of weird quirks. For example, if you take your hand off the mouse, it powers it off to save on battery life. Not a bad idea, but when you put your hand back on the mouse, there is a slight delay in powering up. Other users have reported hearing a high-pitched whining noise coming from the mouse/receiver, but that usually goes away within a few days.

They both work under OS9/OS X, but the extra buttons don't yet work in X. The top two buttons and scroll wheel work like a charm though. Hope this helps!

Wireless Intellimouse Explorer here

in OS 9 with drivers
in OS X without

Works perfect in both
(in X only 3 buttons + wheel work natively)

I have a little transparent blue and silver Logitech mouse. It is wireless and optical, with 2 buttons and a scroll wheel. I'm very happy with it, works under OS 9 and OS X without any problems since it is a standard USB mouse.
