I was talking to my local mac retailer, and they're currently out of iPods, and Apple won't send them anymore until after Macworld.

Does this seem to indicate some kind of changes coming up to the iPod after Macworld, or am I reading too much into this?

My vote would be reading too much into it. Apple has promised the iPod to countries all over the world, I would suspect that the US allotment has been used up, and they are rebuilding the supply. Revamping a two month old product is totally piss poor business practice. Where have you looked for iPods, have you tried online places, CompUSA for instance?

I would tend to agree, as the only change I could imagine anytime soon is the addition of a remote, I was curious if there were any rumors floating around.

I think they may release a remote at MacWorld (I hope that isn't the only thing they release!), but it would be an add-on.. That's my opinion.. Of course I'll be way off, but...

Yeah I'm betting it's going to be something like what you're saying. We know for a fact that remote functionality is supported in the iPod, so it's only a matter of time.

Actually, it's only a matter of time until the Macs get a new facelift @ MWSF.

I'm kinda hoping for a larger hard drive. I handled one in my Apple Store and it was great. I have 9 gigs of MP3s though. So doubling the HD space would be great for me.

I think toshiba has released a 10GB model of that HD, and the iPod COULD fit it. The hard drive is a little bit thicker, but it looks like Apple planned for that because there is a layer of padding next to the drive that if removed would probably allow for the thicker drive.

I'm hoping for a revision, but I'm not holding my breath for it. Either way, after MWSF an iPod will be mine...oh yes, it will be mine....

I bet we see a remote of some sort and a firmware update (EQ) and Whine fix.

We just got a new ROM update today...1.0.3 is on the street...

I'm hoping for some kind of uber-cool digital camera that can mount the iPod as online storage...

Hell F-BOMB Yeah!

It could possibly be a major upgrade to the software on the iPod giving some new great functions. They could be holding back deliveries so that people who buy after the show won't need to do an update to the software. All us early buyer will be able to do the update as we have with 1.0.2 and 1.0.3. Seems sensible to me.

But what could they be adding ? iPod is a very 'vague' name, does not really apply to music at all, could we be getting other non music functions ? With a 5GB drive and upgrade ability, I suppose anything is possible. Let's hope there's a remote on the way and that apple will send them out for free to those who have already got their iPod.

Lets' think it was included in the price, but not ready to shipo when the iPod came out :-))))) (we can all dream I suppose)
