I just bought the Firewire cable for my Freecom Traveller drive, which has been working happily with USB since I bought it about a year ago now.
Unfortunately, no matter what I've tried, I can't get Toast 4.1 (supplied with the cable) or Toast Deluxe 4.1 (upgraded from my old copy of Toast Deluxe) to recognise the drive as being connected. I've even disconnected my internal SCSI drive, reset back to base extensions (except for the Toast firewire ones), cleared preferences etc.
The Toast CD extension doesn't have the X over it on startup, and System Profiler shows Firewire on its devices page (but no specific device).
Current setup, G3 B/W 400 (Rev 1), with Firewire 2.4, 384 mb. Toast 4.1, Freecom Traveller CD-RW 4-4-20, with Freecom Firewire cable.

It turned out to be a dead cable. After trying ALL the rememdies used by forum members on all the different firewire CD-RW's, and calling Freecom's helpline (not much use), I took the cable back to the shop and swapped it for a new one. Worked first time once I got the new one home :-)
