Hey all. Ok here is my dilemma...
I recently found out that my job is going to be mainly on the road for the rest of the year and I'm a T-Mobile customer (with 2 more years to go...). So I made the bold move of buying a MDA ( http://www.t-mobile.com/products/ove...&class=pda) because I was told by annoying co-workers that it would work not only as a phone, but an an external Bluetooth modem for my laptop... So, anywhere on the road that I had service, I could connect to the net using this device. They were wrong. The MDA runs Windows Mobile 5 which is more or less impossible to sync with a mac. I downloaded the Missing Sync beta version (that is supposed to work with WM5) and it doesn't do a thing.... ANYWAY... I need a good recommendation from a Mac user...
Does anyone here have T-Mobile and use their cell phone as an external modem for their Powerbook??? If so, what phone do you have?? ALSO is there perhaps something better I could get besides a phone (maybe a network card?).

I had much success with bluetooth modem use on my RAZR, but with Cingular. Once I was on the correct plan it worked just right. motomodders.net and howardforums.com are great resources, try there for a detailed answer, lots of t-mobile folks on hofo.

thank you! does your RAZR have high speed internet on it, such as EDGE or EVDO? think the key here is that I'm going to have to switch service providers

I used bluetooth on my Sony Ericsson phone with Tmobile to get on the Internet. Unless they changed something, it's definitely possible with that carrier. Not sure about that phone.

I can also use Bluetooth and a Sony Ericsson phone to connect my Mac to the internet, but I forget how I found the info. And of course, it's not the same phone.
I definitely second IceEnclosure's recommendation to ask around at HowardForums. Sometimes it takes a while to get your questions answered, and you have to look at gigantic signatures, but it can be worth it for answers to obscure problems. They have forums for hardware and carriers. I'd try the T-Mo forum first, but you may want to see if there's an MDA or WinMobile specific one.
