The above mentioned has been connected to iMac 333 since August, and performed quite nicely, despite some reinstalls of its printer driver, errors, etc. Now, it seems to be definitively disconnected. I run 8.6 and a 192 error appears,a warning says: " Sorry, but SC 740 is not in use..", whenever I select it in the Chooser .I reinstalled it , now in Portugalīs Portuguese CD, and donīt get any printing. How to solve the problem and get the American English back?

I's check the connection, to begin with. Also, I'd try reinstalling the drivers. English version can be downloaded from the internet if you can't find your copy.

I did it all, disabled USB Print. Class, and when trying replacing the Portuguese with original American ,I found out the CD was locked. Also, i've searched all the forums related issues. Any chance of recovery? Please, let me know. Thank you!

OK, confused moderator here.
What do you mean the CD is locked? All CD's are locked. They can't be written to.
It won't reinstall?
Is your system folder protected in the General Controls Control Panel?
Am I barking up several wrong trees?

Hi1 Thanks for joining me this late evening! I meant the install Cd failed to run disk 1.Anyway it is the past. i downloaded from Epson the American English software, but Chooser remains resistant to SC 740. When I order printing, there comes: Now spooling - testing printer, and the female voice: Jorge, check if your printer is on line, etc.And...I cancel operayion. I must tell you the printer was left "on" overnight, twice at the weekend. Good Night!

Epson really screwed up all the early drivers for the 740 for mac. The only drivers my mac dealer said work are the ones on your iMac software install disk. Ones on the Epson CD and even off the site wouldn't work. For mine, the chooser wouldn't show the port the printer was connected to until I had selected the printer and printed once. Then I went back to the chooser and it showed a solitary USB port under the 740 icon. Weird..........works though

I run my 740 off the drivers that came with it - no probs. I downloaded the update just to keep up to date, not for any particular reason, and still all's well.
I hate inconsistency in computers...

I have had weirdness with my 740i, maybe because it's for iMac and not a G3 which is what I have. Anyway, sometimes it prints several copies fine from MSWord and then suddenly crashes saying not enough memory. I've allocated more than enough, though, and it does not open up again until after restart. Also, in the print utilities, the thing that checks ink level has disappeared, there should be four utilities, now only three...the low ink light on the printer is not lit, so I guess I bought a lemon (blueberry colored)...I guess I'll try the driver update, but I think I've done that already...

Ridiculously, stupidly, I have run into different technical Mac fields, to find out the printer ran out of colour ink, and electrical contact was broken within the pot to make chooser welcome the printer port. What do I deserve? Please, don't say it here, email me ...

Oh No. You don't get off easy. Everyone needs to know what we do to folks who pull stuff like that.
We will now solicit nominations for punishment.
Actually, we've all done stuff like that. It took a course one time where the instructor and I were on nearly the same level, or so I thought.
He trashed the machine and I put it back together. Of course I was first done. He smile smugly and asked how much memory I had. Of course, I had half of what I was supposed to have. He had taped the contact so that the RAM looked to be in place, but the computer didn't see it.
So now I always check the stupid things first, like is it plugged in or does it have ink in it.
So don't feel bad about it. At least you didn't have to admit to at least one affair with 'that woman' in front of the entire nation.
