Hi,

I have an external FireWire HD (LaCie 30Go) with my iBook 2001 (500 MHz).
Last time I put the iBook in sleep mode (closing it), when I reopen it, the FireWire HD icon was not on the desktop. I unplug and replug it and MacOS X say : 'HD not readable do you want to format it ?' !!!

How can I save some data from this disk ???

Thanks !!

Olof

Ok, my problem is resolved with the Norton Utilities !

But is this problem normal ? Should I unmount my drive each time I want to close my iBook ??

Thanks

yes, you should unmount your FW drives before shutting down or putting your ibook to sleep.

I'd think that the Mac OS takes care of unmounting your FireWire drive, wouldn't it? It looks after your internal drive, how come it doesn't unmount an external one when you're going to shut down?
