Don't get me wrong, i think this product is cool, i love macs, i love apple. But I figured apple's first foray into the consumer electronics arena (since newton) would try to appeal to a much larger market. Instead it seems that they have decided to market this product to a very select group of people. That would be: Owners of Macs......with firewire.....that listen to MP's......that use at least 9.2.....and that have plenty of disposable income. I think that apple could have scored a home run with a similar device that PC users could have bought and tantilized them to come over from the dark side! Even if they would have sold the product at near break even levels they would have benefited from market penetration so when they release new digital hub devices more people would be familiar with them. Oh well I'm done, i'm going to go listen to my MP's

I am gald to here some one bitching, but not being a bitch in the proces.

Apple is a Computer Company. Like all of apple software and OS iPod is a "MacOnly" device that is made to draw news users to the mac wail convincing existing users to upgrade. Apple is not planing on making the big bucks off iPod or there Software but make the big bucks off Computer that people buy beacuse of the software and OS that runs on it and the devices that conect to it.

If apple make a small amount of money off iPod I think they still will have sucsed beacuse people upgrage and switch platform based on what they can do once they upgrade. If OS X is not enogh than iPod will etc.

Indeed. You hit it on the head. Hopefully, Apple will soon release more, complimentary digital hub devices to work with Mac's and the iPod.

They also said a while back that there was some new software coming later this year, but that's a rumor I heard, and it could include iTunes 2.

Even though the iPod is overpriced, I'm still getting it because it does what I want, looks sweet and is made by Apple.
