Like the topic anyone seen one for laptop drives, want to throw my Macbook drive in one, but haven't seen any for SATA only desktop size ones.

I searched for a while and gave up. I'm having a hard enough time finding one with USB 2.0--the only thing that comes close is this one from Newegg.

you could try using a SATA / IDE adaptor and use your sata HD in a external enclosure IDE...
I have a friend that have done that...

2.5" sata drives are still relatively uncommon, encloseure manufacturers are just ramping up for them.
