Apple MAY be on to something here. I can't see the iPod for $400. They'll sell some to the usual suspects, maybe even make enough profit initially to recover development costs, but not enough to make it a success. This is where it gets interesting. Would you buy it for $200 bundled with a new Mac? What if it came FREE with a high-end Mac? Bottom line - is it intended as a standalone device or as a tool to sell more Macs?

I seriously hope that it can sell more macs, as I dont believe any other company in the world would release an expensive product which will only sell to 1% of their 5% marketshare

say, how about scaling down the size of that signature file?

Alot of us don't read the forums to look at catchy images- it detracts from the purpose of the discussion boards. A simple link would do the trick, thanks.

I really don't understand Apple. Sometimes I think they are living on another planet.

If they want to use the iPod as a tool to sell Macs, they should make it really cheap, even selling it at a loss. Then it would attract new users to the platform, who see this cool MP3 player that's better than everything else on the market, way cheaper, and ONLY WORKS ON THE MAC.

Right now they just see an overpriced Apple MP3 player that doesn't even work with Windows. Great way to reinforce the perception that Macs are limited and overpriced.

Steve Jobs may have his moments of genius, but the rest of the time it appears that he's a moron.
