i just got a usb barcode scanner "HandHeld 3800PDF" anyway I am tryin to get my mac to recognize it using the barcodes in the manual. I get stuck however when I scan the barcode for Mac keyboard a screen pops up asking me to press the key next to the shift key but obviously there isn't one just the trigger. Any body got any ideas?

I know its an odd request. but it was an extra one lying around at work so I thought I'ld try to use Delicious Library with it.

The Mac is trying to figure out what keyboard you have. By instructing you to hit a certain key, it's trying to find out the keyboard layout and thus the overall type of keyboard. The barcode scanner sends keycodes-the data generated by pressing a key-so the Mac thinks it's a keyboard.

Check the manufacturer's web site for a Mac driver. Such a driver should both include instructions on how to set up the scanner with a Mac and the data to tell the Mac just what "keyboard" it's connected to.
