Under the system requirements for Iomega's firewire zip adapter, it says I need a Firewire controller...
I feel stupid asking, but what is a firewire controller? They aren't just referring to the firewire outlet on my imac dvse are they?

You either need built in FireWire or a FireWire PCI card if you have an older Mac.

I own a FireWire adapter and it's nice for 2 reasons:

1. It's FAST!!!
2. You don't need to plug in the ZIP drive any more. It powers off the FireWire port!

Yes, but is there a FireWire adapter for Iomega SCSI devices, specifically the Jaz drives?

The only adapter I have seen is the FireWire adapter for the ZIP 250 USB. I would assume that future models of Iomega products will come with either FireWire built in, or the same expansion port that allows FireWire to be added later.
