Not sure why.... opening iTunes manually I set the iPod preferences to open iTunes when connected, but it still doesn't do it. Am I missing something here?

I'm running 10.1.2 on a pismo 500 with iTunes 2.0.3 and iPod 1.0.2

Thanks in advance

Do you have multiple partitions or volumes? If you installed iTunes on a partition other than your main one, it's possible that the iPod kernel extension was not installed properly. It's a bug in the iTunes installer (it blindly installs the kext on the same volume you install iTunes on, instead of in /System/Library/Extensions).

I assume it works in Mac OS 9.

Check the login window in preferences and see if I-tunes helper is set to start up during login.
