Can't burn on Formac 16x CD-RW

I just got the Formac 16x CD-RW drive for Christmas and I am having problems burning CDs in iTunes 2.0.3 on Mac OS 10.1.2. When I burn a CD, it burns at 8x and gets all the way through the songs then says "Burning CD... Finishing" and sits there. The burn never completes and I have to kill iTunes to stop the program. The burn also never completes if I burn a CD in Finder.
Apple System Profiler detects the drive as an "HF4011 (LITE-ON LTR-16102B OS0B) that supports Apple disc burning.
I'm on a PowerBook G4 400 and am using an external power supply for the drive. Any ideas?

You don't mention if this is firewire? I assume it is. Also 10.0.2 ? I would upgarde at least to 10.0.4 and even better to 10.1.x for a more stable OS to burn CD's. Lastly I would use toast for X to burn, it works just fine on my G4/500 using 10.1.2 and a 20/10/40 firewiredrive @ 16x....

Oops! Got a little trigger-happy with the zeros. That's 10.1.2 guys. I found this XLR8 FAQ but my drive is a 1602B revision and the patches are only for the 1601B firmware. Any ideas?

Hi, I have the same burner and I too have the same problem. all works nice in toast 5 preview but fails in finder or itunes. guess we will just havae to wait for another update....

In my quest to fix this problem, I see a lot of threads about disabling certain extensions. Is that only in OS9 (which I don't use) or are there extensions in OS X that I need to remove?

FYI, the new 10.1.3 update fixed the problem. I can now finally burn in iTunes on OS X! Now I don't have to reboot into 9 just to burn a CD.
