First let me say I just placed an order for an iPod. I will discuss why in another post. But I am just wondering, I plan on using it with a Wallstreet PBG3. I am buying a firewire PCMCIA card for connectivity. Any reason that won't work?

I'm pretty sure it'll work.

I'm on the verge of doing the same thing - my Wallstreet has been relegated to mp3 jukebox duty, and the iPod would be a perfect fit.

I'd vote for the Ratoc firewire card, since you can buy a power adapter for it. That will let you do a simultaneous transfer & charge. Otherwise you'd have to plug the iPod into the Mac to transfer, then its power adapter to charge; silly.

How did this work out? Did your powerbook recognize the ipod?

The only reason for the iPod to not working with the pcmcia card is because the iPod refuse to go in disk mode when it is connect with firewire without power on it. That is for the same reason Apple claim to only use the firewire that came with the iPod because many Firewire cable out there got only 4 conductor (Not 4 + 2 one for the bus power).

I think we should see in the near future a little adaptor using the charger that come with the iPod to provide power for those pcmcia card.

Actually, I upgraded to a Ti 550 (for several reasons). So I am not sure about the Wallstreet issue. But one thing I have read on these forums is that the iPod requires bus power. So, it may NOT work with firewire cards.
