I'm currently reading a lot of journal articles on my computer. However, I'm finding that I'm straining to read them easily unless I zoom in (they're too pixelated otherwise). When I zoom in, though, I find that the reading process becomes stilted, and that I'm being distracted by the need to scroll up and down the page.

Are there any monitors available that can display a whole sheet of A4 (and US) paper at a reasonable resolution? Something like the current MacBook Pro monitors would probably be ideal, if they were rotated through 90 degrees.

A 23/24" display can show a whole letter page at about 150% zoom with no scrolling.

You've already got your answer, though: a widescreen display pivoted 90˚. A 20" would do nicely.

Be sure your Mac has an ATI graphics chip, though. Those are the only ones that support pivoting on Mac OS X.
