i have a pm 6500/225 running os 9.0.4. i have installed a western digital firewire pci card to connect to a firewire hard drive. i cannot get my mac (via the system profiler) to recognize the card. i also am having trouble installing the software that came with the hard drive. i get an error message that the software can't find "FWServicesLib". when i try to install firewire 2.3.3 i get an error message that firewire is not supported on my machine. the firewire 2.4 installer says that the installer won't work but if i select 'custom install', it seems to be ok. a search of the internet and my hard drive have turned up no information about FWServicesLib. i also can't find any info in the TIL i thought this was supposed to be plug and play. can someone please help?

The Western Digital PCI Firewire card is not compatible with the 6500, only G3's or above.

Agreed, the Western Digital site says a G3 or later.

They do offer a pdf installation guide. Click to Download. Don't know if it will help, but you can try it.

Looks like you may be returning that card. You might try one of the OrangeMicro FireWire cards. They talk about adding FireWire to your "older Mac".
