I've been looking at some of the really cheap RAM prices on ramseeker.com and am REALLY tempted to pick up a 256 MB SODIMM for my iBook. However, I am reluctant to give my credit card to a company that I know nothing about.

Has anyone had experiences (good or bad) with these low-cost RAM vendors? Any recommendations on who to do business with? Thanks!

Whenever I but RAM I always buy from www.crucial.com

I've been buying from them for years and never had any problems. They have hassle free returns and lifetime warranty. They are a little more expensive than some other vendors, but the quality and peace of mind is worth it in my opinion.

If you are concerned about buying from an unknown vendor, check out www.resellerratings.com. It is an online database of customer submitted reviews for pretty much every online computer vendor out there.

I recommend you stay away from Boundless Technology. I ordered a ostensibly 256 MB SO-DIMM from them last week, and when it arrived today, it turned out to be a 128 MB. Although I'm sure I'll be able to get a refund, this process (even typing this post) is a hassle that's imo not worth the $5 or so by which their price undercuts that of their nearest competitor.

I just got a 256mb chip for my wife's iBook (Indigo) from Crucial. Good stuff and top grade as well. But then I've also gotten really cheap memory from OWC (as well as harddrives etc) and always been happy with them also.

As for the Crucial, I just wanted my wife to get the best. My powerbook is very happy with 1 gig of OWC memory.
